Gawd, yes. And Catholic Creoles are really big on children being 'respectful' to elders. I spent half my childhood in the doghouse.

When I was very young, my cousin and I had this imaginary play mate named Walter. One day we were playing on the chairs lined up in the hallway and there was my cousin on the back chair and Walter on the middle chair and me in front. My cousin stepped onto the chair right behind me and I started crying. Mom came running and asked me what was wrong. By this time Lise (my cousin) had got down off the chair, and when I told my mom that Lise has stepped on Walter, mom went and got a mop to wipe up the water. She of course couldn't find any, so Lise started laughing. She laughed so hard that she peed on the floor and started pointing, *There's the water* and she laughed even harder. Mom had no idea what was soooo funny.

Absolutely. So when my own kids said crazy things I recognized they were just being kids.
