it's best for everyone to present for dinner and keep this tradition (eating together)alive. It keep the family alive. On contrary, it will be very different situation if family members not eating together.
Yes...especially when we were younger. Once we started in on activities, jobs, etc. in our teens, there was usually at least one missing, but everyone else ate together.
Unless someone was sick, yes.

I grew up in a household with two shift workers and three children. That just wasn't always possible, but we did have meals with those who were home. Unfortunately when dad was home though it was often more of a battlefield.
