White liberals.

Basically..prejudice + power = racism. Black people can be prejudiced, but they cannot be racist. White people can't experience racism because they have not being systematically oppressed throughout history. <br />
<br />
Black can still be discriminating though. This describes those moments when one individual decides not to give another individual a job because of, say, their race or their religious orientation. Or even because of their looks (there’s a lot of hiring discrimination against “unattractive” women, for example). You can discriminate, individually, against any person or group, if you’re in a position of power over the person you want to discriminate against. White people can discriminate against black people, and black people can discriminate against white people if, for example, one is the interviewer and the other is the person being interviewed.<br />
<br />
Racism, however, describes patterns of discrimination that are institutionalized as “normal” throughout an entire culture. It’s ba<x>sed on an ideological belief that one “race” is somehow better than another “race”. It’s not one person discriminating at this point, but a whole population operating in a social structure that actually makes it difficult for a person not to discriminate.

A black individual can still be racist ,America is a racist institution yes but by definition I can still hate you for being white , yes black racism may pale in comparison too white racism but that doesn't mean a can't be racist , u could say we have a better reason to hate or dislike white people but there are black people that hate for no reason

This would make way more sense if another word was being used or if someone argued that black people as a whole was racist ,but it changes when u talk about an individual

Yes, and that makes more sense to me, but it seems a large majority of people are referring to racism from a systemic angle not an individual one - so although you may not fully agree with what they're definition of racism is, they're trying to point out that black people as a race cannot suppress white people as a race as they don't have the social standings/positions of power - so the power to discriminate on any significant level is not there - on the other hand white society has proven it has the ability to do so to other groups/races.

But I do agree that it's not just whites who can believe they're superior to another race, it's a two way street...regardless of who's in the minority.

The sociological definition. It has to do with the concept of institutionalised racism, which exists on a larger scale then just individual prejudice. The premise is that only those from the privileged classes have the power to perpetuate the racism ingrained within the larger society. And whites are still considered the most privileged class within Western society, whether they own anything or not, ba<x>sed upon the way they are treated. <br />
<br />
ba<x>sed upon that theory, blacks can be bigoted but don't have the power or social standing to be racist.

That would make sense if the word racism meaning wasn't changed , changing the meaning of words makes the person come off as irrational

Best Answer

Because we are considered the bottom. We can be prejudice not racist.

I'm sorry but that's a horrible argument if u be prejudice against someone because of their race your a racist , if u feel like your superior or someone else is inferior to u because of race your a racist , you can argue other things but you can not change a word I can't look at a glass call it something else then base my argument off of it
