I was in study hall when the news was turned on to see the second plane hit. I got up and formed two bus full of air force rotc volentiers and we headed to new york that same hour. Before we left the school we raised the flag to half staff. By the time we got there 7 hours later three buildings had fallen. We were told to form into 4 groups and look for survivers, we pick up body parts of beloved family members as we found them being as careful to not step on any. The hole time thinking to myself I hope my uncle made it out of the pentagon in one piece. 78 of us went that day and by the end of 12 hours only 45 were still mentally cappable to continue. Only me and 16 others from our unit stayed until serch and rescue was called of. On the one month anniversary I organized a momorial service held at our school in horor of all those that lost their lives, including my uncle among the dead. I commanded our color guard barely able to hold myself together.

I was at my 3rd grade classroom, me and my classmates sitting on the carpet while our teacher was on the phone crying. We were all talking about a big building falling down and lots of people died, but wasn't sure of it all. Once the teacher hung the phone up, she looked at us and started tearing up and everyone quiet down while she walked towards us..she told us that everything is going to be okay and I just felt really confused of everything that day. Now I realize what a tragic day that has become.
