I have to agree with everyone and say clay, I don't know whom to vote for!

Apparently clay pots absorb water which is not a good idea if you are living in drought conditions

Singer is right, the clay pots will keep the roots cooler because the clay is slightly porous and will have a little bit of evaporation taking place all the time. I have found that my pets prefer to drink out of the shallow clay pots that go under clay pots to catch excess water. I would place their water in one of those and plastic bowl and they always would drink from the clay container.

Clay pots. They are more sturdy and are made of a natural, semi-porous substance. They look better, too.

Clay pots. If they break, no big deal. Plastic ones break, forever in a landfill.

Clay. Because they break more easily.

The clay ones look nicer, plastic is better if you're planning to plant them in the garden later on.

Clay, because it's typically more natural, and because plastics are usually full of lovely chemicals.

Clay because it's made with a natural resource vs plastic which is made with so many chemicals, some being carcinogens. Besides plastic is bad for the environment.
