EBunbury	Posted May 15th, 2009 at 2:29PM Optical, definitely. They're more reliable. You don't have to clean the rollers. And they're more precise. I do precision graphics work, in which pointing accuracy gets critical, and I hope never to have to go back to a trackball or rollerball mouse. Rated: +3Vote for this!

If you want your mouse to get clogged up with hair and dust and you like to clean your mouse out all the time and enjoy less precise movement, then go rollerball all the way. Otherwise, get an optical. Rated: +2Vote for this!
failedexperiment	Posted May 9th, 2009 at 2:49PM Depends on how good your hands are and what you're using it for. If it's everyday work, an optical usually will suffice. More specialized programs though, like ones dealing with CAD, sound editing, or intense graphic manipulation - can seem easier with a trackball. In most cases though, they're interchangeable.
