Which laws and/or punishments do you disagree with most?

For example: if someone smuggles marijuana across the border into the U.S. they usually get a LIFETIME sentence in jail. But if someone rapes somebody else, they usually only get 10 years! Messed up, right? I don't know about you, but I'd rather have somebody pushing marijuana on me than raping me.

I strongly disagree with marijuana usage being illegal; it grows naturally, and the "high" you get is no more debillitating than being intoxicated. Not only that, but it's a great stress reliever. (Not that I would know personally. ;) )

I vehemently disagree with the the ban on homosexual marriage. FFS, what the world needs is more love, why on earth are we preventing two consenting adults from expressing their love and legally committing to each other? It makes no sense to me, and it makes me so very sad. :(

There are many people who have died and didn't deserve to. And the ones that do deserve it I think should have to spend their lives in prison. I think that's worse than dying. Rated: +1Vote for this!

Yohanna	Posted Jul 6th, 2009 at 4:55AM I understand a little as to why the discrepancy (I think). I believe it is the fact that the drug is being taken across the boarder that is the bigger issue. It is all about the countries security not the crime. I believe the biggest law/punishment issue I have is that the punishment is too little for the crime. Rated: +1Vote for this!

SaunaGuy	Posted Jul 7th, 2009 at 5:10PM although laws and punishment are supposed to produce an orderly, safe society in most cases they are merely used to make the people feel safe. Very rarely do the laws and punishments actually create more than a sense of rather than a reality of an orderly and safe society. Laws need to be there only to deal with those who hurt others; punishment needs to fit the crime. If you break my window or steal my stuff then you replace it type philosophy.
