Hello, not much help i know but i just wanted to tell you i have the same problem, Except my cravings are raw onion(which i eat like an apple),salt, ice, and white cabbage. Im not pregnant by the way. my tongue even gets sore from the ice sometimes. i had a baby 3 years ago and that is when the ice cravings began, the onion, cabbage and salt are recent. went to my doctor two days ago and he is baffled and referring me to an eatting disorder group.
People who chew ice are usually low on iron and may be anemic. Salt is also iodized, and onions do contain iron. Considering the theme, I think maybe you should have your iron levels checked, and hopefully you are seeing a different doctor.
iron onions contain iodine which are good for your blood
