Bereavement and Grief. The intense emotions of sexual cravings (lust), anger, envy, fear, abandonment, and deep sadness are wrapped up together & experienced by the bereft. The mind collapses the perception of time which predisposes the bereft to a state of hopelessness which may explain behaviors like inability to set up appointments or plan to eat lunch or take a shower. At the extreme end, a grieving person could become catatonic--the mind & the heart are there but trapped by immense sorrow.
