In the middle of the Island a very deep shaft was dug, no one knows who dug it, or why? but it may have connections to the Knights Templar. No one has successfully got to the bottom of it, as it has an ingenius "security system" there are off shoot tunnels that allow the surrounding water to flood into it, thereby making it pretty impossible for anyone to get to the bottom. Scientists have dated the timbers in the shaft to be a few hundred years old. Curiously, Palm fronds have also been found lining the shaft, but no palm trees grow anywhere near the Island. The structure itself is huge, and it is estimated that it would have taken hundreds of men about 12 years to construct. Many people have invested money in attempts to discover what is at the bottom, one was the Actor John Wayne, the other notable was the American President, J Edgar Hoover.

2) The Money from the DB Cooper heist....Like (1)

They did find a bit of Cooper's loot, but it was never enough to confirm if he lost it all during the jump or if he just dropped a packet or two running through the woods.Like (1)
