Who botched the Oath of Allegiance - Obama or Justice Roberts?

The whole thing was a complete fiasco. One or both of them should be fired.

Judge Roberts made the mistake, and Obama was stuck because of it. Roberts had said the words in the wrong order, so Obama repeated as far as he could, until "execute", and was probably praying that Roberts would back up and say the words correctly, but Roberts still didn't get it right, so Obama had to basically talk over him in order to say the correct words of the oath.

It was unfortunate (since I'm pretty sure a few people were watching lol) and it made them both look bad, but make no mistake about it, Roberts screwed it up. He even went to the White House the following day to re-administer the oath correctly, just for the record.

The whole time I bet Obama was just thinking "I knew I was right to vote no on this moron's confirmation"

LOL

Although I'm not an American and don't have a statutary right to opine on this, I think theres no doubt that the good Justice made the mistake, and Obama did his best with it.

But I wouldn't fire either of them - they are both human after all, and we know what they meant! Its the nit-picking legal beagles who might have a field-day complaining about it. Those who win their case "on a technicality" - often proving that the Law is an *** on occasions.

I loved it! Nothing in this inauguration was like before. The mass, Aretha's hat, the gay pastor, the not gay ones, the cuddly dancing, the booed Bush, the tribute to McCain/Powel - a class act, Michelle's white dress, party poopers with their bitter comments, all makes great history. And of course the goofy oath, (and the do-over). Who wants a boring and forgetable event anyway?

It doesn't matter who made the mistake. What matters is that we, the people of America, have a new president and should support him with our deeds and prayers. I did not vote for Obama yet the majority seem to want him. I think that some of his policies are terrible, yet I hope he makes me out to be wrong on all counts. I will support the man and if I still disagree with him and think that he is taking the wrong path I will work and vote against him come next election. Until that time I will try my best to support him.

Chief Justice Schmuck. That's what I call him from now on. He gave a great big gift to all the whacko right wing conspiracy theorists and he knew exactly what he was doing. Schmuck.

I watched it over again later on, and it was both of them. But Roberts started it.

Roberts! Really classy of him... he's the Chief Justice and he screws up the oath which is supposed to be verbatim from the Constitution! Guess it was revenge for Obama having voted against him. But Obama retook the oath the next day anyway, so TOUGH SH!T RIGHT-WING NUTS!!! He IS the President.
