We all have to use our judgement about people. Often I find those who complain about being judged are being judgemental themselves...if only about the people they feel are judging them!

Unless you can say that all forms of law and judgment are unnecessary and arbitrary, then you support in some fashion the "right" of some people to judge other people. If someone killed someone right across the street from you, most people would have a "judgment" about that - even though it didn't affect their lives at all. I'm not saying that you are necessarily one of those people, but I've found more often than not that people who complain about people "judging" other people also wind up doing alot of "judging" themselves. You just have to find what ****** them off.

sounds like your referring to christians. they love to judge others. they do that because their religion gives them a feeling of being elite, chosen, blessed. and that everyone else is lost, misguided, and foolish. that is why they feel they have the right to judge others.
gotta love those silly ignorant christians.

zebunomicon;

It is OK to judge behavior under these conditions:
If you are not partaking in the behavior
If it is not lawful to partake in the behavior
And, if it hurts you to partake in the behavior.

It is NOT OK to judge people based upon:
Slander (who's done this? rhetorical...)
Their looks, (they can't help it) Ever judge someone by their looks?
Whether you like them or not...hmmm I suppose you never judged someone because they didn't fit your idea of what a person should be...
STEREOTYPING....Zeb...
These are imaginary.

It is not OK to judge people by
Murder in cold blood
Banishment for no apparent reason (gee...who's done that, I wonder!)

To a point, Zeb, you're right. Christian do feel a sense of oh..I don't know...duty...and it's wrong. I'm a Christian, and I read the Bible, and I know that it's wrong to judge people as a whole. It's wrong. The whole point of Christianity is not to give us the right to judge others...it is to point out to us our OWN faults and bad behaviors so that we can change ourselves. It is not for us to take the place of God and just condemn people.

Zeb, and you are also right, that Christians wrongly judge others, anyway...and they do it without judging themselves.

FYI...I may be a silly Christian, but certainly not ignorant. I realize, though, the importance of morals. If there were no morals, there would be no law. There was no Christianity, there would be NO United States. It would be Spain or Great Britain either under the Conquistadores...or the Crown of Queen Elizabeth.

It's human nature to judge unfortunately. Everyone judges even if they don't mean to, it comes in all forms, religious, political, cultural etc. Just don't let others bring you down because of their opinion. You have your opinion for a reason, stick to it : )

People do, it's called freedom of speach.
they're just opinions anyway so who cares stop worrying so much about other people's opinions and focus on yourself more.

No one gives us the right... we just do!
good/bad we tend to judge.. whether we actually share our judgement outloud or we keep it to ourselves, we do it....

People can tell what they think, right?
When people judge me, I also think like you now. They just try to find something to talk or make a topic that can discuss with people. But Judgement is a bad way. It can give them a good feeling like " You are bad" and " I am not like you. I am good".

They just try to make them feel better from what they have done. Telling the truth for us to see our disability and judging is sometimes hard to realise. If you are not like what they say, ignore them. just think like " You are a child and I am an adult"

your question brings to mind two old sayings - which I will undoubtedly not get right word for sword.

"Judge not lest ye shall also be judged"

"Let he who is without guilt cast the first stone."

Now if people actually believed in the source of those rules of living they would not be so quick to judge others. Just goes to show how many non-believers there are in the world doesn't it.

I like how you didn't even say the word "Christian" and that is automatically who people thought you were referring to. Now THERE is a judgment if we've ever seen one!

Since I'd like to throw a rusty hammer into this well oiled machine here, let's examine why this is:
-- Christians are in the majority, not the minority. Therefore society gives us the green light to pass judgment. Just look at how women judge men or blacks judge whites -- but if it goes in the other direction it's called discrimination.
-- People would rather believe stereotypes about a whole group of people rather than realize not all people are the same. It takes more work to knock out your own prejudices than it does to judge someone else.
-- People like to make themselves feel good by putting other people who believe differently than they do down. There is always, always a possibility you can be wrong... so let's quiet that possibility but loudly judging people who believe what you don't.

In case you're wondering, I'm not a Christian. I just like to call BS when I see it.

In any case, I don't care WHO you are -- a Muslim judging an Atheist, an Atheist judging a Christian, a Christian judging a homosexual, whatever -- you DON'T have the right to judge ANYONE.
