On General Hospital years ago Rick Springfield played a doctor that moonlighted as a musician. On the show ,Jessie was his best friend and Rick fell in love with Jessie's girlfriend. That's where the song came from.

OMG! I have always loved Rick Springfield and that song is the bomb! LOL! Anyawy, I guess it's the girlfriend of somone he knows. I wish I could ask him that. Myabe I'll be lucky enough to get the cahnce one day!

Rick wrote about a girlfriend of a friend of his. Rick never sang on GH back in the day, and he didn't play a musician on the show. The only time he sang on the show was a few years ago as Eli Love.

His friends name was actually Gary.
