Who is right?

My daughter was not feeling well 2 wks ago.I gave her fever reducer and cough meds.She got better and I sent her to her dads.Last week,her dad felt she should go to the doctor.Turns out,she has strep throat.She never showed signs of it or said her throat hurt.Now he has her convinced I am a bad mom cuz I didnt take her in.Her being sick was my fault.I think I did it right cuz you dont just go to the doc. every time you have a sniffle(which is what I thought it was)I feel bad cuz I missed it but even he said she showed no signs.

It's unfortunate your daughter had/has strep, don't be hard on yourself it's not a character flaw that you missed it. That could have happened to anyone. Undoubtedly, he will miss something eventually too.

Sounds like he would find any reason to blame you for things that happen on your watch.

In my opinion the "fault" is not important and somewhat dehumanizing. Is he expecting some type of penance from you ?

geenpunchbuggie	Posted Mar 31st, 2009 at 8:53PM it's obviously not your fault that your child fell ill as this often occurs. it's hard to determine what is wrong with a child, especially when there are a lot of cold and flu viruses going around. as a rule of thumb, if i a) have a fever and/or b) do not begin to feel somewhat better after 3 days of feeling really horrendous i will go to the doctor. i've had strep a lot and know what it looks/feels like but it's hard to tell if someone else has it, if they are not complaining about a sore throat. He should be glad and so should the child that you both are looking out for her. THAT IS WHY GOD GAVE US TWO PEOPLE. HE SHOULD STOP HARASSING YOU...AND CONCENTRATE ON BEING A PARENT.
