"Long John Silver" from Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson -- I'm not sure why. But for a villain he had a heart, and he always got back up when he was down, and he was complex.

"Sherlock Holmes" -- Because he taught me to observe the details.

"Tom Fitzgerald/The Great Brain" by John D. Fitzgerald. -- Because there wasn't anything he couldn't do and he was entertaining.

"Death" from Reaper Man by Terry Pratchett. -- I just love this character. He speaks in all caps, likes cats and is a bit puzzled by humans.

"Harry Potter" from Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling -- It's not because they're popular, (I only read the last few in 2008). But I love Harry's character because his life reminds me of my own life. And his reactions also remind me of myself. So I really identify with his character, and in reading about him I gain hope, a better perspective on my own life, determination to not let bad things or people stop me and I also honestly feel like he's a friend in ink. It's silly but I'm human and I'm allowed some silliness.

I also really love the character of Severus Snape in this series, because he's wonderfully complex and is so well crafted I think Shakespeare himself would have been proud to claim him (you'd have to have read the whole series to see it though, because it's unveiled over time).

Sam Gamgee, Lord of the Rings.... Stout little hobbit, undying love and loyalty....
Or maybe The Little Prince (name of book and character) for the same reasons.... well, except he wasn't a hobbit... stout little interstellar traveler....

Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice- because I can relate to her. She's intelligent, lively, attractive, with a great sense of humor, but she tends to judge people by the first impression she gets of them. I tend to do that myself most of the time.

I really like Elizabeth Bennett from Pride and Prejudice. She's not afraid to be herself, and she's very smart.

Taggerung, he is kind, strong in physical sense and emotional sense, self sacrificing, good with beings, pleasant, and he is supposed to be the one that is most evil.
