The characteristic in question is a human trait in general.

Not one sex or the other displays is more.

Thing is, men on average are more ambitious (testosterone driven). Not less shallow. Actually, I think women on average worry more and think things more through than men.

I am 63 years old. I have loved women all my life and had many male friends. Women ARE far less shallow than most men. Men put on a macho image to mask their shallowness. I'v known men who fight rather than admit to a point that someone makes in a discussion. Women usually re-examine their viewpoint and will see the other side - not men. Men are also far bigger liars than women. I was fired from ajob over a lie told by my boss. We went to see his boss and he told me that whether my boss lied or not was immaterial - he fired me.

I don't. We all are, but men are just more known for it for whatever reason, so people continue to play on that stereotype making everything we're more shallow. Even though there's really no difference other than what people have been thought to believe about men and women.

Not I. Of course it depends on the woman. Or the man.

I think that it's more socially acceptable (and sometimes expected) for men to be shallow, therefore men in general are going to show it more because there are no social rules and norms stopping them. But I think both genders are equally capable of shallowness, the women I know who are shallow are just a little more discreet about it.

I think it's equal depending on how confident a person is. If they are happy with themselves and find themselves to be attractive, they will have higher standards for who they want to be with.
Although, I guess I am kind of picky and I'm not attractive at all.

I dont think one sex is more or less shallow than the other. I think women have it harder though because they are bombarded with shallowness from society and the media 24/7 and are more concerned about things that arent as important such as appearances. But no....I feel it depends on the indiviual regardless of sex.

I know many men and women, equally deep and equally shallow. I prefer to spend my time with the deeper thinkers.

Gender generalizations generally suck since both sexes exhibit different kinds of faults and people are individuals and don't always fit into stereotypes.

Having said that, I think most men suck.

No, shallowness isn't restricted to one gender

Being shallow is an affliction that can affect both males, and females....but, in my personal experience, I know way more males that are shallow, than females.

I believe that any gender can be a deep thinker...or concern themselves with superficial things, but, men are more frequently regulated by their hormones which doesn't leave much time or room for deep thought. Female hormones are more cyclical, so, they have more time out from that force.
