I wouldn't know. I make fries by slicing a potato into strips and baking them in my oven with a little olive oil and salt.

the belgians in belgium. in the food- stands (kind of camping-trailers) made from freshly on-spot hand-cut potatoes

There's some place that hand cuts yukon gold potatoes and fries them in duck fat. Can't beat that.
If I just want fries and a burger, there's a place in Edmonton called garage burger. Great fries. The key is they have to be cut on site.
