Depends on how ya define intelligence. Ray Kurzweil (inventor, futurist, the world's foremost thinker, to many) says pattern recognition is at the heart of our intelligence.

Should be equal. No competition and they should look after one another.

why would you want either one to truly know what each other is? preferably you would want someone a bit dumber than you are no matter what sex since then you could then gain the upper hand more often ... so i choose women but thats just cause im a guy

Neither. It should be either equal or different but statistically irrelevant.

In a relationship one should compliment each other.. Any missing quality if fulfilled by the partner makes relationship strong and made for each other feelings... The base of any relationship is true love and then anything is fine after that...

They should be roughly at the same level, otherwise it won't work.

Since intelligence isn't a gender thing but rather a genetic thing--sad, all children are a few points less than either of their parents except for the occasional giftedness, which says a lot about why we are all getting dumber--the answer to your question depends on the intelligence of the people involved. Ego is much easier to quantify because ego isn't genetic--it's purely one's own evaluation of themselves in whatever reality that they allow themselves to perceive.

doesn't really matter as long as you enjoy each others company. i don't know why people have such a need for superiority over one another such a need to label people that's why there are so many people in this world who are being bullied, suffering because of sad, pathetic people who have nothing better to do than pick on others to make them selves feel better, look cool at the cost of others feelings. >:
