Who thinks drive thru bars are stupid because it's illegal to drink and drive? we have those in Louisiana?

I saw a place like that called "The Booze Box" in Killeen, Texas, and had to get out of the car to take a picture of it, lest no one back home in Michigan would believe me. They would even mix you a drink to-go if you requested it. What makes them legal is the difference in open-container laws from state to state. Whereas in most states, ANY open container will get you a ticket, in a minority of states, so long as the driver isn't intoxicated, drink up. The law is only as stupid as those who choose to ignore it.

Well...it's Louisiana. What do you expect?

We have family in LA.... It's considered a closed container if they give you a cup with a lid and hand you the straw!!

That's only weird in one way: why would you want to drink in a car? Get out, have a brake and drink in a normal bar, with some atmosphere to it. As long as the driver doesn't drink, who cares?

In Holland it always get's stranger: drive through brothel. Paid for by cities to 'regulate' hooker activity out of the city center. They have large walls, a box with a police officer, some bus stops where the prostitutes are waiting and parking lots with walls on every side and a bin to conveniently throw your condom in. I keep thinking who would want the job of emptying those bins...

Louisiana is broke, just like most states. They probably have a higher sales on bar sales than packages sales, and this is an easy way to make money. Plus after you pay the higher tax for the drive through booze, the pick you up and you get to pay a nice big fine. They figure that iff you are stupid enough to buy the booze like that, you'll just go right out and do it again.
