plenty of people are mature, but I prefer someone who actually listens and hears what I'm saying, maturity is useless if you can't listen to the problem

I guess it depends on the problem. I don't really ask for advise besides a doctor about a health problem and even then I don't really trust them.

Both. :P But I just feel like a woman is less likely to be judgmental and i don't have to put up some kind of macho front while being honest

I'd go to someone I know and trust ... not always one gender or another.
