Who you consider the Greatest Comedian of all Time? ... And Why?

My Personal favorite is Bob Hope ... First and Foremost because he was so enduring and have sacrificed his life to entertain thousands and thousands of Armed Forces Personnel so that they can have a bit of taste of entertainment back home.

richard pryor.....by far ......he was able to share his life experiences -wether mundane or wild in a way that spoke to the heart - you really laughed from deep down inside with him.....he could do more with a facial expression than most could do with an hour of material........

Johnny Carson --- late night tv has never been the same since the Carson days ... Watching "The Tonight Show" with Johnny Carson was something I always looked forward too, especially in the summer time when his show would be about the only thing I would watch.

Laurel & Hardy, way ahead of their time back then, and now, comedians now a days only copy the old ones scetches

George Carlin...was very funny while also being very socially relevant. I'd rate Lenny Bruce 2nd, as I think Carlin was funnier (but very much agree with historiansfallacy that social relevance is important as well as being funny if you are considering calling a comedian great).

Nobody's mentioned Jon Stewart yet, I think he's hilarious. He does lean liberal, which works for me, but when a liberal does something stupid Stewart will skewer them without mercy too.

Well, even after all these years, Barney Fife (Don Knotts) and Lucy Arnaz (Lucille Ball) still make me laugh. Can't say that about any others.
