Who's got bulimia? Has anyone been able to give it up?

It's meant to be harder to give up than a heroin addiction, has anyone had any luck, and how did you do it>

i havent had it but i want to send out LOTS of encouragment to anyone who would like to get better as a friend of mine died from it. You absolutley can heal!! You chose this and you can choose something else. There is a LOT of help, support, guidnace out there but you have to WANT to. Addictions are not easy to let go of as we form identities around them and fear we will be sad and lonely without them but many people have successfully healed and lived healthy lives. no one addiction is harder to give up than another because of the very personal reasons behind why that person manifested their unhappiness in that addiction.

You all absolutley can do it!!!

I know people who've gotten past it, I had a period where I was but I snapped out of it before it really became a problem. There is always hope, and I do truly utterly believe that people are capable of much more than they realize. If you have it, you can get over it, just keep working hard and staying focused on being healthy. It may not be easy, things are not always simple. But there's always time to change the road your on!

Aren't you 'giving it up' each time you force yourself to puke? It's not like you were born with bulimia. Its a disease of choice by spoiled rotten brats obsessed with themselves. Just stop it.

I'd consider how it permanently ruins tooth enamel and the entire esophagus. Then I'd think how disgusting and selfish it is choosing such a habit. And heroin is much more sad and serious an addiction than barfing up your lunch.

I went through it with my sister. She ended up having to go see a doctor. i am not going to lie to you. She had a hard time getting over it. But we stood by her. Find a good friend that you trust and ask them to help you get through it. you need support from your family too. So ask your parents or brothers and sisters for help. You are on the right track. My sister recovered and now has four beautiful kids. Good luck and god bless

My daughter has been bulimic since she was 8: she is now 30. She takes pride in wearing a size 0. All the bad things associated with bulimia ase happening to her little by little. She would like to be healthier, but she won't give up the bulimia to do it. Even with all the therapy, I doubt she will live a longer life.
