Who's got memories of Michael Jackson they want to share?

The world's still reeling from the shock of his untimely, tragic death...so, does anyone else here have any memories of the King of Pop they'd like to share? Songs, music videos, interviews...?

When I was 9 years old I got my first walkman and the Thriller album on tape. I listened to it nonstop, only taking it off when my Mother made me. I thought he was amazing. His soft voice made him seem kind and sensitive. I hadn't experienced much of anything kind and sensitive from an adult at that point on my childhood and I lost myself in it. My admiration and fascination with Michael Jackson also opened the door to my real life education on racism. I lived in Oklahoma City at the time and there were only 2 black children in my whole elementary school. When my Mother and Father noticed just how much I was into Michael Jackson, it prompted what I like to call the "Intro to Bigotry" talk. My Mother came to me and told me that "we can be friends with black people but we don't date them or marry them." Honestly, at the time, I wasn't sure what the hell to make of it. I was only 9. But what's ironic is that a few years later, in my 6th grade year, amongst my best friends was one of the black girls in my elementary school. Her name was Keysha and we had so much fun together. I had all but forgotten "the talk" and when she started calling me on the phone, my Mother told me we couldn't be friends because she was black. So, I wasn't allowed to be friends with a fun amazing kid because she was a little different than us? I guess I always considered myself lucky becauseI didn't understand it then and I don't understand it now. Keysha and I are still friends today and it's 23 years later. Michael Jackson and his music will always have a special place in my heart and my life.

Michael Jackson is four years older than me so I grew up watching him grow up. Those magical years in the 70's, my childhood was steepied in television shows. I rarely missed Saturday morning cartoons and the Jackson 5 was a part of that. I certainly became exposed to their music, among other things.
Fast forward to 1983 and MTV. In my very early 20's I was rocking out, working in a neighbourhood pub, and going to college, prioritized in that order. Michael Jackson had already released Off The Wall and was now smashing records with his Thriller popularity.
I was fortunate enough to win tickets to his Victory Tour in Vancouver. I remember the sound just sucked. I was in the nose bleed section of this massive stadium that had only been open about a year.
MTV shaped my youth, and Michael was a prominant fixture. His videos were amazing! I only realize now with his passing how much his music influenced me. I never bought his music when it was at it's peak in popularity. Only a couple of years ago I bought an Off the Wall CD, just because Rolling Stone named it as one of the all time top 500 albums to own.
And yes, I watched Michael apparently get wierd with the plastic surgeries, his eccentric Neverland Ranch and the accusations of molestations, not to mention his marriage to Lisa Marie Presley and the whole surrogate parenting thing. Now, in his death, I prefer to remember his awesome 80's music along with my expanding youth.
I'll be 47 this December, closing in on 50 and as the memories of my young adulthood come flooding back I'll be going out and buying my first Thriller disc. I already swung by the cd shop, but they were sold out.

I remember driving in my dad's truck with him back when I was like 6 or 7 and he would be playing MJ, I absolutely loved it, Beat It being my absolute favorite, my dad would get into the music and be like "Uhhhh!" When they make that sound in the song, ya know trying to make me laugh.

I really liked MJ the most when I was that age to around 12 or so then I kind of got creeped out when he dyed his skin white and all, that is weird.
