Generally, men are smarter with things pertaining to logic like math equations or map reading, and women are smarter regarding emotional and spatial intelligence like communication or being able to visualize how things fit together or shape/mold.

One gender's not really more intelligent than the other.

Neither, both genders have people of varying IQs and abilities.

To make a sweeping geralisation (of course there are many exceptions) men are generally better at numerics, logics and spatial awareness while women's intellectual strengths tend to be language, creative and emotional but put any two individuals side by side and show me that pattern and I'll eat my hat! Everyone has different amounts of the different intelligences. I can bow to the spatial awareness one - I can't parallel park to save my life but all five of my brothers can do it no problem so perhaps there is a grain of truth to sweeping generalisations!

Oh come on. Intelligence is not determined by gender, it's determined by individuality. I wish people would get the notion that one gender is smarter than the other out of their head.

If putting up with all of mens shortcomings and still thinking he's great is concidered smart, then women take the trophy.

    It's not defined by gender.

    "Smarter"... is an odd quantification....
Some women are "Smarter" in some thing than men.

    And vice-versa.

"Studies with large representative national samples from Spain, Denmark, and the United States...all conclude that men on average are slightly but significantly more intelligent than women, by about 3-5 IQ points."

    Howeverrrrr,

"Height has exactly the same effect on intelligence for men and women: Each inch in height increases the IQ by about .4 point. The partial effect of height on intelligence is more than three times as strong as the partial effect of sex. So it is not that men are more intelligent than women, but that taller people are more intelligent than shorter people"

I think it comes down to the definition of smarter. men tend to use more facts and less emotions to make decisions. Women depend on more emotions and less facts. It is very possible that some decisions require more emotional input than others and others require more facts. I think that we cannot say men and women are the same because they are not. I think we can say that any differences in thier ability to make intelligent choices evens out over time.

Men have larger brains, particularly larger in the frontal "gray" area that does logical reasoning. Men also score a few points higher, on average, on IQ tests.

Smarter is kind of catch all..men tend to have better spatial reasoning but women have better emotional intelligence..and that's not always the case either way.

Men are on average taller! There are intellectual individuals in both genders, so the gender that has the higher average of intelligence would be the smarter one. I don't know, which one this is. And frankly, it doesn't matter to me. It is quite impossible to measure intelligence accurately, so it is already a lost cause.
