I don’t know what worries me more, the fact that the question has been asked or that its listed in hobbies and recreation.

He's fictional, but would have to say...

Dr. Hannibal Lecter.

I (really) get hungry every time I watch any of those movies...I mean, despite his...tastes...the man was an expert chef!

Dexter - he has a true purpose - ridding society of the worst of the worst. A true hero among serial killers. The rest are freaking sickos, real or imagined.

I suppose if I had to choose (which I don't really like any of them) but...

Robert Pickton
He was a pig farmer, living in Vancouver and he targeted prostitutes and drug addicts. I think what he did was horrific, however, he got away with it because all the women that were missing were already mixed up with the law and when reported missing, they weren't made a priority. 15 women were identified, however police say it could have been up to 64 (due to the reported missing). I do think that their lives were valid, and again, did not deserve what happened to them AT ALL, but I guess it was easier for society to adjust to because the people he targeted were not contributing to society, more like menaces, and they all went with him willingly (maybe for another reason - however they got in his car on their own free will). I guess it bothers me more to hear of innocent untainted lives being taken (such as children, mothers, fathers, respectable women and men).
AGAIN, I do not think that these women deserved it, I just find it easier to deal with, considering their occupation and disregard of their own safety.

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!
That's the best question i've read so far! How can you have a 'favourite'? Dunno about favourite, but Jeffrey Dahmer intrigues me - how can you do what he did? Interested in what makes them tick, but a fan? Absolutely not! :)

You know you're going to get a lot of "shock, gasp, how DARE you ask such a thing!!" answers out of this question, right? That being said, Jack the Ripper, just for being such a fascinating historical fixture.

I think Ted Bundy is intriguing because of his depravety but also his charm and apparent normality. He is one of the few serial killers that had a fairly normal childhood so it is more difficult to come up with reason of why he did what he did. I wouldn't really say he's my 'favorite' but most I find him interesting in a 'I just don't understand why someone would do that' kind of way. That being said Jeffrey Dahmer also had a normal childhood and did even more disturbing things.

Hannibal Lecter, hands down. His superior intellect and insight into the human psyche just blows me away.

I would say Jeff Dahmer. He had good looks. His life was fascinating. He was very disturbed to that obvious point. Folks should have stepped in long before he ever had any chance to do what he did.

I've always been fascinated by Ed Gein, he had more ghoulish qualities than he did human.

As for fictional serial killers the Firefly family, Otis in particular, are my favorites.
