Why am i still in love with my ex?

During the relationship with your ex, you have derived a significant part of your identify from being with him. He was your world. When the relationship stopped, you felt as if a part of you was missing. You feel that you need that part back to feel whole again. Even though rationally you know that it would not be a good decision. If you realize that you can stand on your own two feet and find the same kind of affection that he once showed inside yourself, or in other men... then you will be free again. You are already complete.

the important thing to ask yourself is : does he truley love you, respect you and value you? and do you love yourself? i was in a relationship w/someone who led me on and made me believe he loved me at first. then he did horrible things for his amusement, and told me he didn't love me. he knew that i had been through alot and was extremely vulnerable. i still want him to love me, but...he never will and i have moved on.

I think you're confusing "love" for "addiction"...

When you are in a dysfunctional relationship, you get used to things being dysfunctional....then, when it's not anymore, you have "withdrawals".....there's no more drama...no more name-calling...no more crazy-making behavior.....so, we kind of go into shock....have anxiety.....

What would take those uncomfortable feelings away?

Getting back with the dysfunctional person....

What is the best thing to do?

NO CONTACT....It will take a few weeks....but, you will feel better....Don't go back with him....try to remember why he's your ex....when you start feeling those feelings of longing for him....think of the way you felt, when he was controlling you....or how impossibly frustrating it was, to explain something over and over, because he doesn't believe you.....

To thine own self, be true!
