You need to learn to let go, and realize that you can't fix everything, for everyone, and that everyone isn't going to like you, or be happy about it....but, you are not responsible for everyone else's happiness...only your own.

why is appeasement? Diplomacy is not dishonorable. Prevention of hostility is honourable. It may also be exhausting but is not wrong. Maybe the people around you are angry and combative. Left to themselves there my be greater conflict causing more damage and pain to you too.
Appeasement is discredited diplomatic strategy. It papers over problems which should be confronted. If left unopposed the consequences are worse. If this is what you are doing then it is necessary to examine what you do and adjust your strategy in oder to make sense of your efforts. It may also be worthwhile giving more responsibility to other people in your life to empower them to assit you in you role of rescuer. It is a lonely and demanding role and one best surrendered to the group.

Maybe some sarcasm here and there, some derision, directed at yourself and people you trust, could enable you to lay down that halo over your head for a while.

I think you may be surrounding yourself with an environment that isn't good for you. It's impossible to completely control your surroundings, so think about possibly seeking a new one that is more in tune with you.
