Judging oneself is always difficult. Its much easier to be on the outside looking in.

At least you are willing to ask and think about it. I think that means you are not narcissistic. If you keep listening to people and thinking about it you'll probably start catching yourself before the words leave your lips. It's just you becoming more self aware.

because you're impulsive- i say this because usually the people i know who are "mean" are also impulsive, but once you know that you are - you just have to practice being less impulsive, by just watching out for it.

After they've pointed it to you, can you see it?

When you manage to notice it, ask yourself what had lead you to do that evil. Think about what was the situation, what did you think at that time and if you do it in other similar situations. Sometimes it's preventable.Like (1)
