In my case it is an instinct. I felt I had to protect my child since she was in my womb. Even more so after she was born. It´s something natural. Nobody has to tell me to do it and I love it.

I truly believe that the bond we share, from the time that child is put in our arms and look into that little face the tiny body, the love that comes forth is protecting.Because we know our seasons of fear, lonelyness, worry and pain, until he can stand on his own two feet fall down and get back up again brush himself off we will be there every moment to make sure our hand of protecting is on him.

Because for some reason they can't realize that you are independent from them and your own person. They think that they own you but they don't. No one owns you. Mine was very overprotective and smothering and I hate her even to this day. Protective mothers don't have a life which contributes to it. Not only do they not view you as having your own personality and life besides them, they think that YOU are their personality and they can't figure out how to get a life.
