Why are people soooo rude?

My kids have been wanting to play with the neighbors kids all week. Finally I call her and asked her if she would be outside in the afternoon so the kids can play. She tells me that she has to go to the store to purchase a small item and then she would be back and the kids can play. I was outside when I saw her leave and she again assured me that she would be back in a bit. So here I am waiting and waiting. An hour passes and then another hour passes and she still hasn't come back. First I thought maybe something happened so I started to wonder. Anyway, I end up going inside after but kept going to my window to see when she got back. She got back almost 4 hours later. Never called me to explain or apologize. People are either dumb or just plain inconsiderate. I felt bad for my kids who kept asking me where were they and why would they lie to us?
Just added: Do you think I should call and ask what happened? or learn for the next time.

Some people are just plain inconsiderate and don't think of others, they focus only on themselves. I would have thought she would have at least called or knocked on your door and said hey Im sorry this happened and we can't. Or sent of the the kids over (if they are old enough) to say my mom said we can't now.
Now you know how she is and you have to explain to your kids that she is just too busy to let her kids play.
Im guessing there are no other kids on the street or area?

Some people are just really inconsiderate and i honestly beleive there are people that have no conscience.

Its the kids that feel bad about it all and i think you should have it out with her. For defo!

Take as clue, she doesn't want your kids playing with her kids.

I'd just ignore her in the future and not be available..see how she likes a piece of her own behavior. That was pretty rude..I think she did it to be difficult.

Let this go - do not call her because that would be extremely controlling and demanding behavior on your part. People don't like to feel beholden like that. Neighbors don't usually rank high on people's priority lists - most have jobs and family issues to tend to. If it works out in the future, great, if not just let it go.

You know any thing could have changed her mind,it wasn't like she promised to watch your children.Maybe when she was out,she forgot she had to make a phone call when she got back home.We don't always realize what
is going on on the other end.I would forget the happening and when you see her out side, tell her the kids are bugging you to come over and play, see then what she says.I don't think she intended to hurt anyone.
