Why are reality shows so fake?

More controversy=better ratings=more money.

Because they fake life.

I think most of them are about what they think people want to see. Left alone, the show may have nothing spectacular happening.

I agree tht it doesnt make sense for them to be fake with a name like reality....but ppl on those shows make alot of money soo i guess tht they must write scripts and but booze there so tht ppl will stay interested. It sucks how they give off the image tht u can fall in love really fast and it actually being true luv...till the cameras go off then all of a sudden they break up..its stupid...thts why i dont watch those things anymore...i really dont watch tv anymore bc everything is pretty much fake

Why do you watch them? If you and everyone else didn't watch that crap, they wouldn't air them!

i will defend the original bachelor because that was the season trista got dissed on tv & it broke americas heart. that of course led to the spinoff bachelorette show where she met the real love of her life ryan on national tv. yes they met on a reality show. yes they even had their wedding televised (i watched it...& i was moved to tears). yes they have been married for almost 10 years & are on their 2nd child. so i will say there are people who go into reality shows who are true to who they are & what they want out of it.

now about the rest of these shows & folks i believe its for ratings or that so called 15 minutes of fame. its gonna be scripted to some degree the reality is in how these people react to the script or the way the show plays out. its cheap entertainment.

People themselves are comfortable being fake... would be one factor, I guess... :/

For entertainment. If reality shows showed people sitting on the couch eating a bag of chips do you think many people would watch it?

People like confrontation and drama, so these shows create as much as they can to fuel people's needs for stupid tv. People seem to need to live vicariously through tv personalities instead of getting off their butts and living life for themselves.

I rather not watch the type of shows you mentioned, but I do like cooking shows.

cuz they would do any thing to get famous....so they would do any stuff tv productor wants to become famous.
