Why are rich people less likely to help the poor?

The top 10% pay over 60% of the taxes collected. How does that seem fair? Plus by the very nature of write-offs, they do contribute to charitable organizations. Don't mistake their want to save money by using the tax laws that are in place by congress. So what they do is legal to save their money. Everyone who has to file tries to use the laws to make their tax burden less.
Don't bash the people, look to congress and the administration for what you might see is wrong. They're the ones that make and approve the laws.Like (2)

Greed, selfishness and lack of understanding and empathy as to what it is to be poor.

They aren't. Rich people donate more and more often because of their status an the availability of funds..what you're saying is a myth propagated by people who want to overtax the rich, so they rile lower classes up against them.

Your question assumes that rich people are less likely to help the poor. That may not be true. Many rich people give away much of their money, but they don't make it public knowledge. Your question is in the same category as "Have you stopped beating your wife?"

You do know that conservatives give far more to charities than liberals do, don't you? Liberals are content to give away other peoples money. They think that makes them generous.

insofar as that's true, it's because they don't have to deal with them personally at any real level - they don't feel any relationship to them - wealth spoils - even the middle and working class have forgotten how far they live above the pulse of life

God complexity.
Greed obsessive mindsets.
But then can you give one reason why they would? For good karma? To enact a good deed? People have to HAVE a reason to do something so generous in this world.Like (1)
