I think this question can go both ways...and who you marry or choose to stay with only reflects on yourself. I wouldn't marry someone I wasn't proud of...and I wouldn't marry someone who wasn't proud of me.

They married the wrong woman. If you cannot take pride in the woman that you wanted to spend the rest of your life with, why on earth did you marry?
Here is a tip for you younger men . . . If you show respect and love for your wife in public as well as in private . . . You will reap huge dividends in private. A wife who feels appreciated, listened to (not obeyed . . . Listened to) and respected becomes confident in herself. Nothing sexier.

Many reasons.

Healthy pride is the manifestation of respect. If the woman has done things to destroy his respect for her (anything from constant criticism to adultery) he will not be proud of her.

None of us are impervious to social pressers. If the wife doesn't care about her appearance or cleanliness, or deliberately dresses to antagonize people, it would be hard for the average man to be proud of her when out in public.

If he has self image issue and hates himself, it will spill over into the rest of his world, often coming out as derision and disrespect. When directed at his wife, it is disrespectful.

so a person (in this case a woman) should be allowed to do anything she wants whatsoever with her life and her other should still be 'proud' of her? really. then my question is why try hard at anything? if the outcome is the same?

I get your point, but why would you marry a woman like that. If you did, shouldn't you take pride in her complete lack of effort? If I had stayed married to my ex, I would have had to . . . lol

Best Answer

people are married to that.
Here is the reality, I WANT to get rewarded for my efforts and I DONT want to be rewarded for my failure in life. Being 'proud' of someone as a overall rule is just silly. reality doesnt work that way, if we are not rewarded properly for our efforts and their outcomes people will not do sh*t becuase there is no reason to.

Because they're not proud of themselves and when they feel threatened by their wives, they get arsey with her. Men who view their wives as equals (which they are) have the most successful and happy marriages.
