Why are some of us accident prone?
Why is it some of us are accident prone and others never hurt themselves? I bump my head all the time, bang into furniture, fall, etc. What gives?

I think people are becoming increasingly accident prone because technology has made us more sedentary and so we are not developing coordination skills as effectively as we previously were.
Some people might also be more prone to accidents if their personalities are more impulsive than others giving them a tendency to react more quickly and so have more scrapes. I think children are particularly at risk because they generally move a lot quicker and there is less time to assess spacial awareness.
There is also a condition called Dyspraxia or developmental coordination syndrome. It used to be called clumsy child syndrome but we now know that adults can also be affected and that it is often undiagnosed. People with the condition find that they are accident prone and also have problems with fine motor skills like jigsaw puzzles and needlework. I believe it is also closely connected with memory, so if writing lists is your thing, maybe you should look into this?

It could be that you have a vestibular balance issue, having to do with the proper function of your inner ear.

The sense of balance is maintained by complex relationships between sensory organs that are located in the ears, eyes, joints, skin, and muscles. Balance problems occur when the brain receives conflicting messages from the different sense organs, or if a disease affects one or more of the sense organs

Funny you should ask? I was just walking nothing in the way .... My ankle is the size of an elephants and I can't go to work for a week. If you get the answer to your question let me know... As I am accident prone.

Seriously though it's all down to lack of concentration. Some people can't keep their mind on what they're doing, so of course they have accidents.

I always seem to be aware of the potential for accidents, so I know to avoid them. But even I am fallible.
