Why are some people amazed by the world around them and others just sit and watch sports and drink beer?

Darn, if I didn't have to get up for another beer, I'd never have seen this question.

Seriously? Have you ever talked to a sport fanatic? They are amazed by it and every it entails - I think it falls to what you are passionate about - and what motivates you.

I am a photographer so I am constantly amazed by the world around me... especially people - my husband is more amazed with nature... so I think it's a personal preference.

serious answer: to compare the emotion of amazement (of the world) , and maybe that of interest (in watching sports) isn´t quite fair. behind these emotions are levels of intensity, and there´s a greater zest to amazement than to interest. however that doesn´t mean that because one person experiences one, that they can´t experience the other, everyine has an intensity inside them that needs some sort of outlet. i think the people you refer to who "just sit" have amazement at things, but in a different way, towards different ideals. sometimes their world is the world.

Some have no passion for the offerings of this life, they would sit around and wait to die before they would put some effort into celebrating life and those who we share our lives with.

Some people simply are not curious by nature.

Heck I am amazed everyday by things but man you tell me there is a football game on you better have room for me and a 12 pack. PLus, i need to have a beer to just calm the heck down after one of those lovely days at the office. Beer is my best friend....kidding but i love beer!

Humans are of so mixed genetics (no matter what they think about that), that there are many different types of personality out there; some like this, and some like that. Personally I have always been interested in the world around me - particularly the Natural World - and I have never liked beer or alcoholic beverages, or sport.

Man, you must never have had beer before...try it before you pass on!!!

I am amazed by the world around me, however I love to go to professional baseball games....(not a drinker)...

Now, if you are talking about couch potatoes vs. explorers....it's all about motivation and personality....Some people have both, some have neither, and some have one or the other.....Depends on their gene pool.
