I am on the east coast and I have never seen a mexican with a high technical job.

Best Answer

There is a group at my local college called Society of Professional Hispanic Engineers, and there's a whole chapter of them. They even have their own magazine, but then, I'm in California.

Best Answer

Maybe some aren't cut out for technical jobs??

Best Answer

I don't know. But they get paid more than me without the training and education. Kind of annoying.

Best Answer

Best Answer

You mean people actually from Mexico?

Best Answer

mexicans in general. Even ones that grew up in highly technical countries.

Best Answer

Mexico specializes in what you would call "low value chain labor". These are manual labor type jobs that don't take much skill. The country is trying to increase education to create more "high value chain labor", which includes jobs like you're describing. However, the country has a long way to go.

So, when Mexicans come to this country, they come from a place that specializes in low value chain labor. This is what they know, so this is what they do when they come here. It's part of the culture at this point, even for Mexican-Americans who have been here for a generation or two (or more even).

Best Answer

Yes, and the fact that Mexico's educational system is a complete failure.
