People either want to believe the best or worst of you, so their opinions may follow accordingly. Otherwise their opinion may be based off some experienced situation with you.

They want attention? Just know this whatever they say about you is how they feel about who they are. We see everything as a reflection of ourselves.

If you want to know why, then here is the answer: Millions of different gene combinations and millions of different growing and living environments -> higher confidence and/or arrogance and lots of different personality traits. On the other hand, there sometimes are multiple "correct" answers and you are just too clouded by your own thought to see that their opinion might be true also.

because they are self-important or genuinely believe they know. in my experience so far just about everyone thinks they know it all. it's nothing new or special, just lame social crap.
