Why are tomatoes so expensive?

$6 for a couple of tomatoes is ridiculous.

that is expensive for tomatoes! i buy a lot of mine locally when i can...much cheaper than the store even, plus home grown always taste so much better!

All produce is expensive depending on how much it weighs.

Must be sending them to Australia,because we've more Tomatoes here than you can poke a fruit fly at.Price range is;$2.49 to $4 a kilo.

where are u getting ur tomatoes.. the best place to buy them are on corners.. we have mexicans selling BIG tomatoes on corners out here.. n they taste better then the ones in stores.. u can also get strawberries, cherries, flowers.. n watermelons! OH MY!!!

Over here they are not expensive. I think that in this period I can buy about 6 normal tomato`s for one euro.

thats why i go to the mexicans and the chinese for my tomatoes they cheaper.

this time of year they are really cheap here, lots of people give them away because they have too many in their gardens
