Maybe because we are all hanging on to dear life, always hoping that death will not befall us.

Life is never a waste of time for me; if it is for someone else, that is THEIR choice. It's all in what you make of it.

I doubt that fact comes as news to anybody. The waste of time comes when you dwell on it.

LOL! That was so funny it brought tears to my eyes. Life itself is a complete waste of my time and God's. I am sterile and will not leave my genes to anyone so basically I am already dead. I am just taking up resourses now and producing nothing of any value to this life or world.

I use to be very careful with recycling and conservative but not anymore. F*ck the future and my husband's grandchildren are just S.O.L.

The mind is constantly looking for distractions. It doesn't want to be in the 'nothing'. It doesn't want to think about it's mortality. It hates being bored. That is why we do so many mindless things and later on judge them as wasting time.

Because now that u're here, u should face it like a man(or woman, gotta check) and make the best out of it. That best may not be what u want but u'll have to watch out for it. You can do that.

It's hard to fathom that "one day." For myself, I feel invincible and things happen to others not to me. I don't think about the day I may die, why not just live?!

We do realize we are going to die. We also realize for the moment we are going to live.

Great question.
When we remember that we will die, we are supposed to ask: What is the meaning of life and death? And we will know how to use our time properly only when this question is clearly answered.
My learning leads me to the conclusion that all men will return to God as grateful or ungrateful children. So I learn more about how to return as a grateful child and try to practice it.
If there was no God, I think my life would not be wasted. Because while trying to live as God's grateful child, I have increased my knowledge not only in religion but also in science, and my devoted and silent service to the human race, who are my brothers and sisters, so I am completely satisfied.
No God may means no recompense in the next life; but for this life I have thankfully and happily tried to be useful to myself and to other people. Moreoever, in my learning about religion, I found a counsel that we should not expect a recompense from God. Our heart should have God only, other things are meaningless, even immortality or heaven are only the products of God.

After we are born we all are indisputably on a crash course to death. We need to fill the void between those two events. Other than what society demands of us, our only true occupation is to meet the hierarchy of our needs, beyond which, the rest is inconsequential. Samuel Beckett addressed this question in his stage play 'Waiting For Godot'.

Well, I was having fun here. Didn't think of it as a waste of time. Please excuse me while I reflect on my death.

are you wasting your time? - I have -lots- to do before I die!

the pain the emotions, the tangle that is life - is the only way to acquire wisdom.

On the other side you learn in other ways and gain other things but in the mean time we must live! - and by living learn what we must from this life.
