Why are you "outcast" when you confess your sins?

James 5:16 Says confess your sins one to another... So as not to generalize....Steroid Psychosis had me doing a lot of things. One thing I did was write about my past and not only did I put it on the internet but I gave hard copies to members of the church. Bottom line, the church pretty much turned it's back on me. I had been an active member of the church for nearly six years. I don't understand how the church could treat me the way they did. I believe the word of God and that people sin whether they are in church or not. I just don't understand why people who profess to be Christians can turn their backs on someone for doing what the Bible say, nevermind the fact that I was having a rare side effect to medication! Am I making sense to anyone?

Should not be, but it is difficult for some to deal with certian types of sin. To God sin is sin it does not matter. If you confess your sins He is faithful to forgive us of our sins. And it is good to confess to another brother or sister in Christ that you trust is of God is following the true path. Unfortunately so many are not, as you have experianced. Sorry for the action of others and man fails but God never will. Man will turn his back on you but God will still be there for you. Pick yourself up wipe off the dust and find a more suitable place to worship the Lord with fellow believers. Or go back and began to make a change in the church for the better by being a example of Goddly man. It takes one person to tear a church apart, it also takes just one man to bring a church back to God. If Jesus could change the whole world, maybe you can help change one church.

Christians are human and flawed I think that you should have confessed your sins to God rather than people because nobody's perfect. I wouldn't confess my sins to the people who it didn't concern. You have made a mistake and are now paying for it. I am so sorry *Hugs* I would now try to seek out a different church and instead of telling them about your sins tell them to God for that is where true forgiveness is. Then forgive yourself.

Maybe your "sins" weren't in vogue that week. Take it as a compliment.

Because they are not following the will of God thats why.God says to forgive one another and to love your nieghbor as yourself. And love the Lord Thy God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.I wouldnt let this bother you. They that turned thier back will have to answer to The Supreme Judge in Heaven one day for what they did to you.I for one dont condemn you.I have been given the gift of felling the Holy Spirit when I promised God to quit drinking. What they did was wrong. You can message me if you want.I know a website where you wont be judged. And I suggest finding a different church to belong to.The Church is not a buliding. The Church is the Body of Christ of which we are all members.Ill pray for you.And may The Lord bring peace on you.As long as your heart was contrite and you truly confessed your sins God was listening as He always does and he will never turn His back on you.

You were in a church that wasn't blessed by God. They obviously judge their members which isn't there right to do. Any church that doesn't make you feel welcome or doesn't teach the truth you need to run the other way. You did nothing wrong, you don't need to confess to anyone but our Lord. There are very few churches that teach the true word, this is why the word "christian" has become a bad word to most people. "Christians are all put in a group by people, but we are all different" These kind of churches turn people away from God. You don't even have to be in a church to worship God, he is all around you, just ask for His guidance. All these preachers, and teachers will be the first to be judged for misleading God's flock of sheep. Jesus was here for the unbelievers and sinners, not the ones that already knew the true word. Shame on that church, I have been in many, I no longer go to an actual church. They were more worried about Sunday dinner. You can preach for 50 years and still not know the true word of God.

Good old religion strikes again!!! That's why religion just doesn't appeal to me. Things are black or white, right or wrong to them. It doesn't take into consideration mental health, financial situations, social problems, etc.

I'm not saying 'there is no God' (how could I possibly know?!), just that organised religions seem very unfair, unloving and harsh to me.

Because it's easier to put you down than face their own sins...

Confession does not make you clean, but that propagates negative stories. Cleanliness can be obtained only by sincere and private repentance before God.

So if you sinned, then got married, would you tell God or tell your wife, even though she wasn't involved?

The fact is all people want to tell someone because we all want a HUMAN reaction and Human response.

Everyone in that church did not turn their back on you.

It may appear that way but even in the most fundamentalist churches all people are not the same.

I think what you wrote might have scared them, plus you were under the influence of drugs an they did not know how to handle the situation.

Go back, be the bigger person, act like nothing happened. If you think they were non Christian then in sense of peace and love go back an be one.

if you outcast someone who has done wrong - you say I am not like them. You define your character, and deeply intrench it as someone who won't make the same mistake.

I think it's a learning mechanism - with unfortunate circumstances for the condemned - though the condemnation helps the sinner to see the consequences of their action, and not do it again.

human psychology has a tendency to trump official doctrine at times.
