Resolved Question

Why can't she respect me?

It doesn't matter who it is. You could be my brother, sister, mother, father, lover, friend....

I DON'T LIKE SOMEONE EATING OFF MY FORK OR DRINKING OUT OF MY GLASS!

It's a major peeve of mine. I don't care if i've ever exchanged spit with you I don't like it and i've told you many times to stop but you keep doing it.

It's very disrepsectful with no regard to what i've said, asked or anything.

She thinks it's no big deal. She laughs about it. It's just gross to me.

I think millionaire Howard Hughes shared your phobia. He wound up dead and utterly alone. Something to think about, anyway. I tell you this because, in her mind, to reject her sharing your eating utensils is to tell her that you don't think very much of her. To reject her in this manner is an affront. Trust me, this is the message she is getting, and thinking about. Whatever it is that she decides to do about it, you will be the last to know. That's just how it is.

Relationships are so much more than just our pet peeves. When two people enter into a relational contract, intimacy is a big part of it. However you choose to limit your intimacy, or display it, she will return in kind, one way or another.

If you truly love her, and want to keep the relationship, you might want to consider counseling to get you over the hurdle of your pet peeve. After all, the rest of your life with someone can be a long time.

Rude...Her upbringing may have something to do with this. She may not see anything wrong with it because it was common practice to "share" when she was growing up. However, since this offends you, be very specific in telling her it is not acceptable to you and it is causing a division in your relationship. Then ask her if she minds if you use her toothbrush? But don't tell her what for-then use your imagination.

Will pushing the plate or glass her/his way after they do that help? If not, look at them with disdain while they're doing that.

I give the plate to someone who does that. I don't even like someone to even get close to my food. If their breath touched it I can't eat it and I won't. My sister used to do this to me and man I wanted to stomp her azz. Do not even look at my food because I am libel to growl at you like a hungry dog.

Without mutual love and mutual respect, no two people can get along for long. Of course, I must practice this first, if I wish other people to do so. And even if they show impoliteness to me, I will not loose anything. Yes, I am myself, my thinking, saying and doing.
