Why Did Video Games go from Simple Blocks in Mario to Violent And Bloody Call of Duty type of games?
Was there ever a need to make games realistic and gore and about killing?
Why did we ever move from Mario to this realistic violence?
Who thought about this idea and what was the point?
But anyways the question is WHy?
They just wanted to make their nasty violent fantasies more realistic so they feel as if they're experiencing it?
I play FPShooters but when i'm in it I always wonder why it has to be violent and realistic.

To desensitise people,in order to condition them to acts which once would not be acceptable

So the question is why would someone put together a work of art with violence? Because they can and it is a form of expression with immersion. Not very many shooters are "realistic" because you don't, or aren't able to move after getting shot once.

I don't know. It seems to reflect the same trend you see in movies. Things have gotten more sexual, more violent, and kids are seeing certain things at younger ages that they just weren't exposed to years ago. There was a time when you never heard certain curse words on TV, and shows that had certain types of content were only aired late at night, when kids were supposedly in bed. Now it's all out there...soon to be in 3D! So it's the rush I suppose. I found Atari exciting enough, but I'm thinking today's generation would find it boring, or at least not as much of an adrenalin rush as actually seeing someone's head explode. It's a reflection of a lot of things. The addictive need to be entertained or excited and aroused all the time. The lack of conscience or constraint and the lack of shock or shame or repulsion that are becoming more the norm. And of course, the drive that companies have to make money and give the people what they want...no matter how horrific society's tastes have become.

Some people like violence and graphics (things Mario doesn't have a lot of) and others like inovation and imagination (things CoD doesn't have a lot of).

There have always been violent bloody games, it's just that graphics are a lot more advanced these days. And Mario is still going strong as well.

Supply and demand...
yer gameplay is a very low quality version of what we had from Quake 3 ten years ago.
I have no love of CoD - the multipla

If you think the game is bad, have a gander at the little movie clips that pop up every now and then.
