My votes are with ecpc and RachelR who usually are right-on with a vengeance. Besides that, Obama isn't even close to being a Socialist.

The government owns barely 1% of the entire economy. Key industries like defense are still privately owned.

Are you asking why the people of the United States elected a democratic president? I'm English and can only guess, they may have been sick of the Republican one that was in favour of killing people. As governor of Texas he revelled in sending people to their death even if there was doubt about their guilt or innocence; they were on Death Row and so he signed away their lives. he signed away many lives of servicemen too with his warmongering. Remember those imaginary weapons of mass destruction? Did the people of the USA really want a president who imagined things and had imaginary friends?

George Bush and his co-conspirators let people like Madoff run Ponzi schemes, did away with financial regulation and sent the world into a depression. it is no recession, no credit crunch; it is a depression like in the 1930's. The same solutions based on Keynesian economics are being applied just as they have in Japan for the past 10 years - to no effect. President Obama needs a miracle and he gets poor advice from bureaucrats that are as right wing as the previous administration. He is starting to do some stuff like cutting defence spending rather than welfare; but has a long way to go. I wish him luck, the whole world does.

Ok, why are the republicans still all out that he's a socialist, it's not like the government really owns everything. Plus people are tired of that idiot bush who was making this country worse by the second and spending billions on useless things. Maybe we didn't want another bush in our hands. Plus if you think hard enough it is really complicated to make this country socialist in the first place. Have you also realized how much the rest of the world hates us because of the idiots in the past. I don't see people complaining about chavez and he's obviously a socialist.

Just so you know I don't like socialism at all it can't work in the US. I also didn't vote for Obama as I can't vote yet but if I could have I would vote for the lesser of two evils and Obama wins in that.

Plus if you really hate Obamas policies, you can still protest against him. Socialist tend to not let people do that but last I heard we can still protest.
