Why didn't they tell me?

I had an job interview at Old Navy this week and they didn't have the decency to call me and tell me I didn't get it. I'm so fed up. I can't find a job anywhere. I guess you have to be a certain way to work there. I hate interviews because I know I'll loose it because I am so damn worried about getting it. I have so much on my mind right now that I can't be bothered. I'll be happier if someone said Yes You get the job. I am about to put down the real reason I need a job. Yes, I want to work in retail, I want to own my own store, but at the moment I'll do anything. Then I called my dad afterward and told him about it and he said its because I'm black and the NJ and Philadelphia area doesn't really hire black people. Its freaking OLD NAVY! The store manager is black...most of the people at my current job is black. I EVEN GO TO SCHOOL FOR FASHION MARKETING!

Oh girl, what a horrible thought! It's just because there were so many applicants and someone was related to someone and slipped in because of that. I hope you find a job very soon and one you love. I will be thinking of you in my prayers and I will be sure to ask for you to have your own store! So many people are in the same position... I have a job but still make no money to speak of.. somethings got to give soon. Stay positive, I know thats difficult to do. Good luck

Because almost all jobs don't tell you. Call once after like 2 or 3 weeks and ask about it. If no answer, give up on it. I have to apply for 10-15 jobs on average before getting one on both this job and my last one. Don't take it badly. It could be any number of things. Did you wear old navy clothing to the interview? lol. There is no way of knowing why they didn't hire you. Probably had nothing to do with your color. But if you do go to an interview, dress appropriately.

Your dad is a moron! Sorry!
There are thousands and thousands of African Americans that have jobs, and GOOD jobs, in NJ and Philadephia.
I bet it's not because you are "black", I would bet it has something to do with your presentation and attitude.

I was looking for a job one time and couldn't find anything. So I figured I'd go to a coffee shop since I had extensive experience working in them. Years of experience, some of the managerial. It didn't matter. I still couldn't get hired. That was a blow to my ego.

I'm too old for most jobs so I took a job no one likes

I do domestic cleaning through an agency they take almost anyone as long as you can get a police clearance, they don't care how old ya are as long as you are fit to work.

Don’t let anyone tell you that you are less, or unwanted because of the way God made you. Jobs are tough now. A person that was making $300,00.00 last year, may be glad to get an $8.50 an hour job today. Remember some places don’t want the best, they wont a robot, someone who will take all their crap even after the economy recovers. Just keep trying, or go start your own shop. I really don’t think your Dad is correct but his intentions are good.
