Why do people have children when they can barely feed themselves?

Ignorance. And the more kids you have, the more welfare pays you.

for the same reason that good people with good intensions loose their job for some reason and still have to care for their kids.

i agree with you. i had my daughter when everything was going good. i want so bad to have another one now, but im losing everything now so im just gonna have to wait. i guess its just a selfish desire. i feel selfish wanting one now.

Because, some people might view them like lottery tickets. If you have 15 kids one of them is bound to be some rich hot shot when he grows up. Or the victim of a tragic accident in which the family can get rich through a wrongful death lawsuit.

I know alot of people who have kids who can feed themselves and their neighbors five times over. And you know what? They still suck as parents.

I hope every parent who can't feed their kids or themselves finds some way to make it and in the process deplete the welfare system and drain tax money from people who make it their business to care about who decides to have kids and who doesn't.

It's not because of the expense of contraceptives. Condoms and the pill are both far less expensive than having a baby. It's because people are lazy and don't plan ahead. They also tend to have invincibility complexes. "It will never happen to me!" Oh, if only denial worked. There would never be another unwanted pregnancy or STD in the world.

If they cant afford food you cant expect them to be able to afford contraception. And if these are the kind of people who have been and will be poor for their whole life, that doesnt mean they should be banned from having kids forever! So long as the kids survive and get plenty of love they will be fine.

possible reasons:
1) accident/stupidity
2)they either a)plan on things getting better soon and changing quickly(getting more money in time), or b)plan on things never changing for them so they figure since I'll always be poor it's as a good a time as any.

It sure seems wrong. Also those who have pets and starve them to death. Why is the big question. So wrong.

If you're talking about people in starving third world nations. It's most a lack of access to any form of birth control, and the absense of a culture that would permit it. Sex is a biological imperative of self preservation. And the more a person fears for their life, the more they desire to have children.

As for people in first world nations, it is simply a result of irresponsible behavior. Food is so incredibly cheap in the first world nations by comparison, it's bizarre that anyone ever goes hungry. If they lack for food, it's probably because they spent their income on other things, they have no income at all, or they are too proud to beg. A simple diet of nothing more than eggs and ramen noodles is actually a reasonable healthy diet and can be had for less than a dollar a day.

To add to that, why do they also get pets to add to the children that they can't feed? I have noticed this to be a trend where I live.
