Some men don't like to wear jewelry because they work with their hands (deisel mechanic) , wedding band can get caught, they could lose a finger. My Husband wears his (his insistence) and almost happened to him, my FIL doesn't wear his, anymore, because it almost happened to him as well .

Unless it's for safety reasons (like others have said), I don't get it. And I really don't get why someone would buy a ring they are allergic to when there are so many metal options. My husband claimed he didn't want one or wouldn't wear it and I told him how that made me feel, and he changed his mind and now feels weird without it. Some men just have to get used to the feeling of jewelery. I know my in laws don't wear their rings, and I find it odd, except that I don't think their marriage is a happy one. And some people claim they don't want it to get damaged, but then why buy it in the first place just to store it in a dark drawer? I don't get hording jewelry but never wearing it. And then there are those who don't have rings, or only got the cheap ones for the wedding ceremony, and I always get the feeling they don't believe in rings, but I imagine that normally goes hand in hand with not believing in marriage, so I obviously don't get it. The only people I know who don't own wedding bands who are married are jerks, so I don't care to figure out their reasons anyways. Nothing they do makes sense to me.

My husband use to wear his but recently had to take it off because his hands are growing. Now that we want new rings for our anniversary next month, he was sized at a 15 instead of the 13 & a half he was wearing last year. He doesn't like not wearing it because he hates it when people ask if he married or not.

My ex didn't wear it because he hated wearing jewelery and because of the work he did it would have been dangerous for him to do so. I didn't mind at all.

I can not answer for anyone other then myself on this one. When I was a firefighter/first responder I saw a few cases where people lost their ring finger because the ring got caught on another object as they were moving. Case in point a young newly wed who slipped off of a foot stool while helping to hang curtains. His hand brushed against a nail in the wall catching the new wedding ring. The ring and part of the finger stayed put while he fell to the floor.

For that reason I very seldom wear my wedding or any other ring. And for that reason only ! Not to impress or fool anyone. But for safety reasons.

what's funny is you can argue to wear it FOR safety reason.s Just last week I was using the oven with my husband and the door accidentally got knocked into my hand, and I would have badly been burnt if it weren't for the huge diamond the oven door hit instead. I LOVE my engagement ring!

My ex took his off almost right away, and said it was dangerous for him to wear it because of his work.

    I think either they forget
or they do not wish to wear something valuable every day

I was always told that it just doesn't fit anymore. People get fatter as time goes on and it just eventually doesn't fit.

    Maybe it doesn't fit.
    Maybe they forget.
Maybe they are pretending they are single.
