Why do certain people let their boyfriends/husbands control weather or not they are allowed to be on EP?

So I just read a story that one of my friends is leaving Ep, because someone she Loves is making her Leave. I don't understand why men/woman think they have TOTAL control over others! I mean, now its just "you can't go on EP anymore" next it will be "well now you can't see your parents anymore" I see the signs. I have been in a CONTROLLING relationship before. I didn't see it at 1st, but seeing this hapepn to someone I care about concers me....I don't understand, why you should have to leave EP, because of your spouse, or boyfrined/girlfrined. if you love it here, you should STAY!

A relationship where one party controls the other, in the way you describe, is an abusive one and likely to be (or become) very unhappy for the person who is controlled.

it is hard to be in a controlling relationship especially if you actually know and realize it...yes, other ppl can stand outside your box and tell you how to live in it...but it doesn't change anything about your life at the end of your day...my ex use to check my car mileage and cell phone minutes...I couldn't talk to either of my parents or any siblings...I done that for 10 years..like me alot of people enter into these relationships at young ages and it takes years maybe life times if ever for them to realize and see their world...and it can come to a point some one can control your whole life so much you fear change...where will I go? what will I do for money? what if he finds me? these questions get harder w/ each passing day...

so it may not be a matter of letting someone control them...the control may just simply exist...

I would be like "excuse me, b!tch?"
Unless someone is "dating" online, it's not their partners business.

It's a mystery why people let others do what they do to them. I wish I had an answer.

I lost my first best friend on EP that way. I suppose it must've looked like we were too lovey-dovey.

it's not that guys controlling their wives, it's also the other way around. I met someone on ep couple a month ago, and he met a woman on other site (christian site), and they're supposed to get married. Now she won't allow him to be on ep or other sites, or contact any online or offline friends especially females. I told him she's been controlling, he told me that he got hurt that I said that. I was being honest with him, and watching out for him, maybe one day, he'll find out what kind of woman she is, and leave her.

A lot of those women are sick and brainwashed like the men into thinking that men have some right to control women. I read a question on here the other day actually asking if we agreed that the husband has the final say in a relationship. I was shocked and disgusted that any one would put something like that up, I coulden't believe it.

People loose themselves in the name of love. Love doesn't prohibit your freedom of expression. Love does not give you the hopeless feeling of insecurity. People allow these things. All is not lost, she should regain herself.

Of course, if you take normal Christian marriage vows, you say somewhere in there that you will "love and obey" your husband... and maybe the husband takes it seriously?

Well, the Church was a paternalistic organisation; their idea was to put and keep womenfolk "in their place" (in their opinion). So its natural with such a starting point, that husbands would want to be the controlling factor...

Myself, I believe that both partners should respect and unconditionally love and support each other; and that they should work out agreements before they decide to live as one, as to how they will act and what they can tolerate - then there's no nasty surprises (or perhaps fewer surprises than would otherwise be the case).
