Because they are not friends.
I don't keep friends that lie. Kind of negates a friendship, no?
Sometimes to make you feel better.....and other times to make themselves feel better.....
A true friend does not lie to you. So that must mean they are not your friends!
friends lie all the time so be surprised if they don't.
lies come in all shapes and sizes if you dig hard enough you'll find that everyone lies sometimes including family and friends.
"to say friends don't lie is a lie in itself" (C) freeflowing
All truth is not good to say.
And it's not about lie it's about how do you think.
you called it a lie, I called it something you never think that would happen.
I'd have to say their not really friends if their lying to you.
they are not friends.
they are just people. sadly a lot of people are like that,
you shouldn't get yourself caught up in those kind of friendships.
My friends don't or they wouldn't be MY friends!
friends do lie its a given fact.. here are some reasons why they do
1.they dont want tio cause trouble
2. they say what they tihnk you want to hear
3.they dont know any better
4.so theydont 'stir the pot'
5. cause they think its easier this way.
they dont understand that you want the truth adn dnot a lie.
6.unless you can say youve never lied to a friend this question is kinda irrelevant.
sorry cruel but true
"Friends" DON'T lie!
I think people lie sometimes because they are trying to hide something for whatever reason, or make themselves look better than they really are, or want to avoid hurting your feelings. There are many reasons. Sometimes a white lie is necessary to smooth social interactions. For example, if you found out something you shouldn't have, like a friend cheating on their partner. Depends on the severity of the lie as well. People who are compulsive liars cannot be trusted in what they say and do, and aren't real friends.
Lying friends aren't.
For some reason they want to hide something from you or spare your feelings. I often wish that I could be the kind of person that could tell someone that they have something in their teeth or a smudge on the backside of their pants. I just don't want them to feel embarrassed or uncomfortable.
Thought1 - You hit on the head. Friends that lie to you are SHOUTING, "I don't want you as a friend!"
Friends which lie, there are no real friends. But I myself tell every time the true, but mostly nobody will believe it. I think the question should be, you believe your friend?
Your questions shouldn't be "why do friends lie" it should be "why do people lie?"
To not hurt them?maybecoz we wouldnt like making them sad
If you were more specific it might help with the answer.
Sometimes friends lie to make you feel better than the truth would make you feel.
Sometimes it might be something you asked and they feel it's none of your business and that your question was rude so it's alright to lie in return.
That is two ways to look at this but the question is too vague to answer it in an intelligent way.
