Why do i all of a sudden have this fear of the dark and/or being home alone?
for some reason i'm all of a sudden afraid of being home alone.. i used to luv having the house to myself day or night. but now that i've had the house to myself since last tuesday.. i'm always watching my back and jump everytime the house creeks or i hear a noise.. i've never been afraid of the dark but now i am for some reason.. why is going on with me?

Did you do something lately you regret, you feel guilty for or something considered abnormal by the masses? Did you discover something about yourself making you feel uncomfortable and you're not sure anymore if you can be trusted yourself?
Adult people who are regulary afraid of the dark like since childhood i like to tell to turn the stake around - Terry Pratchett wrote a discworld story with witches which i like to cite then:
"What's here to be afraid of?"
"Heh heh, US!" :)
Every human is potentially dangerous, so are you, even if you choose not to be. Do not imagine to be the person being afraid in the dark because of possible strangers, be the stranger yourself. Be ready to confront things. Open and peaceful - not because you are helpless, but because you freely choose so.

Fist I agree lorraine, Listen to your intuition first and lock everything up. If this is not your normal feeling something could be wrong. So Safety first. Next then try to think of anything that may have caused u to feel this way, from phone call to something someone said and or not a scary movie. But do not let your guard down until you figure it out or the feeling goes away. Trust you.. right now I feel the same. Ive been dealing with harassment from crank calls to now feeling im being stalked or investgated. hard to tell but i lock house doors, car doors, check back seat and watch behind me to see if im being followed. Yes there has been a police report. But that doesn't make u feel entirely safe.

could be to many crazy movies have finally gotten to you by how realistic the can be lately, but you and not alone in that feeling lots have it.

What used to be described as the fear of 'the dark at the top of the stairs'. It is a natural feeling frequently caused by those who populate or have populated your life. The fear of the unknown of which many are affected.
It could also be connected to some future event that has the possibility of trauma; something that concerns you.

RanaG is right. You can actually learn to cultivate positive emotions that fit with being alone. Peaceful private time and that sort of thing. At the moment you're focussed on the negative side of it, an attitude adjustment is in order.
