You attract meanies because believe it or not they are looking to you for help subconsciously. It's really sad they function this way, but always remember to protect yourself.

Maybe they sense a vulnerability in you. I was bullied for years as a younger person, and sometimes people still try but the difference, is, I will speak up now. I will say, "Please don't talk to me like that. What you said was untrue of me.I will forgive this because I am sure you weren't trying to hurt my feelings ." ...and if it continues to happen, I will still forgive and say something but I won't interact with them unless I see change in their attitude toward me.It never has caused me to lose friends, telling the truth with respect. Maybe you need to try some counselling to see how to kindly assert yourself. It is a practice, done right, that should satisfy your soul. Good luck, sweetheart.
